The Journey

After a tiring day of school and a hard 40 km / 25 mile bike race the energy levels are low!

I decided to take an easy option tonight and dig out a poem / song I wrote about 10 years ago of my life thus far.

For those of you who have some time to read it you will find out some more about me!

The Journey

Born the eldest...keeping the peace
Must take your share...responsibilities
Tension at home...feeling the heat
Too busy resolving to find your feet

Religion was found to soothe...reassure
Caught up in its mysteries...salvation cure
Guiding the thinking...implanting the hope
Lighting the future...an upward slope

The informative years proved lonely alone
With few but acquaintances and frequent at home
Most friends social misfits as always attract
Girl trouble in absence...confidence lacked

Travel brought challenge inspiring and new
Away from mundaneness...broadening the view
Breaking the boundaries...the borders so vast
Arriving home safely three years having passed

Respectable...settled...career underway
Priorities changing...the ghosts at bay
Secure...locked in...to routine...the calm
Grows fuller and deeper away from harm

Any thoughts / comments / questions would be greatly appreciated and I will get back to you!

A very appropriate post today Paul considering we just changed your header which I think sums up very well who you are right now!

Thank you for sharing your journey. You've had quite the journey to get to where you are now. Even if it may not always have been easy, it is great to see how settled you are right now. Even more so you have not let anything hold you back to achieve what was and is important to you! I think that is very inspiring!

Well done on the long and hard bike race. That really is awesome.

There is no wonder your energy levels are low after such a busy day.
Hope you are having a nice restful evening.
The words to your song are really great - I sort of know where you are coming from I am the eldest daughter in our family.
Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
