On arrival at Lake Tekapo we checked in at our accomodation and had a short rest.
Jo wanted to check out Lake Alexandrina where her family used to go regularly on holiday, located 10 kms from Lake Tekapo.
Lake Alexandrina was extremely picturesque and its beauty was enhanced by the lupins that are prevalent around the area.
From there we drove up to the Mt John Observatory and took in some stunning views.
It was a warm day and we decided to freshen up at Lake Tekapo's Hot Pools.
After dinner we took a walk to the Church of the Good Shepherd
and of course I had to take the obligatory lupin photos. Aren't they beautiful colours!
It had been a big day so we had an early night to be ready for a walk up Mt John next morning before a long drive to Queenstown.

I've never been to the South Island (except only once for about 2 days to Christchurch hospital for one of Bianca's treatments). So it is lovely seeing all your photos! Thank you for sharing! It looks like it was beautiful there. And nice to see you in some of the photos as well.
So is this the special thing you did with your girls??
